At the beginning of each season The Krafty Kids team will be updating colouring pictures and projects for you to do at home.

Meet the wonderful Krafty Kids Characters Dottie and Jonnie who will appear in all Krafty Kids merchandising.

Below you and your children can catch up on their adventures each season.

Dottie and Jonnie are the very best of friends and their favourite thing in the whole wide world (apart from ice cream of course) is art and craft. Unfortunately they are not allowed to make too much mess at their homes as both their mums are very fussy about boring things, like sofas, apparently sofas cost £30.00 or something like that. Dottie’s mummy has lots of special things from Isak.co.uk and she never ever ever wants anyone to get paint on them and Jonnies mum has never recovered from letting them do paper mache and ruining the dining room table. So now Dottie and Jonnie go to Krafty Kids and no one is too fussy there.

Spring

Today is the first warm and sunny day of spring. Although late this year, it is still such a pleasure to see beautiful snow drops collecting in groups on grassy verges and the daffodil heads are at last appearing in lines outside houses. Jonnie and Dottie have decided to collect small bundles to put in little glass vases around the kitchen at Dottie’s house. They set the biggest bunch on the kitchen table and found some different materials to create a still life picture. Dottie decided to use paints and announced “This picture will make a lovely birthday present for my mummy” Jonnie agreed and chose bright wax crayons and stuck yellow tissue paper onto the flower heads to add texture to his picture. It was very hard to choose whose picture could possibly be the best, so Dottie’s mum gave them both a nice slice of chocolate cake as joint first.

Jonnie and Dottie have been incredibly busy lately attending all the new clubs on offer at the Krafty Kids studio. As well as attending their weekly sessions where they have been making sculptures out of all sorts of materials such as, clay, paper and recycled objects. They have also been asking to attend the Saturday morning drop and shop classes, each Saturday morning children are booked into a time slot and can do all sorts of arty things. A few weeks ago, both Dottie and Jonnie stayed for 3 hours and made magnificent castles.

Now Krafty Kids have joined forces with a very talented and expiernced Drama specialist and have started the Arundel Youth Theatre, this will be held in the same building as the Krafty Kids Studio in the Red Room. Dottie really enjoys performing and although Jonnie can be a little bit shy he likes to get involved in building props for the stage and is slowly beginning to feel more confident and may also have some lines to perform in the next production at the end of the term.

Easter is just around the corner and lots of children are signing up to make Surprise Easter boxes on Saturday the 3rd of April, followed by a long list of Easter half term workshops and field trips to attend. (click onto Workshops to read all about the great activities on offer). Don’t forget to download the lovely Easter colouring in picture as well as the beautiful spring time picture and also this season’s fun art and craft activity to do at home with an adult.
